Local Martial Arts Students Earn New Belts
The week of July 20, 2009 several local Martial Arts students earned their next belt. The students train at the Passage of Knowledge Martial Arts Center located on Main Street across from Dollar General.

In order to receive the new belts each of the students had to train for several months. During this training they progressed both physically and mentally making them eligible to attempt a “promotion.” A promotion is when the Martial Arts Center has a review board evaluate a student’s progress to see if they are deserving of their next rank. If the review board unanimously agrees that the student has met the required criteria, then the student is “promoted” to their next rank and given a belt to represent that rank.
On July 20th the 4-6 year old group known as the Tiger Cubs attempted their promotion. Kitana Klowetter successfully promoted from Jr. Yellow Stripe to Yellow Belt. Marschel Bye successfully promoted from White Belt to Jr. Yellow Stripe. Ms. Klowetter and Mr. Bye are both very hard working and dedicated students. Ms. Klowetter is the only Tiger Cub student that has participated in both promotions at the Passage of Knowledge Martial Arts Center. She successfully promoted both times. Mr. Bye is the only Tiger Cub at the Center that is a member of the Splits Club.
The review board for the Tiger Cubs promotion consisted of 1st Degree Black Belt Sensei Simpson and 4th KYU Purple Belt with Black Stripe Mr. Sam Crump.
On July 22nd both the Kids Class as well as the Teen & Adult Class attempted their promotion. We are happy to announce that they all passed!

The review board for the group promotion consisted of 1st Degree Black Belt Sensei Clay Christal, Sensei Simpson, Mr. Crump, and 7th KYU Blue Belt Mr. Tyler Ingram.
In addition to their promotion, three students earned Student of the Month Awards. Kitana Klowetter was named Tiger Cubs Student of the Month. Sarah Booher and Nicolas Farnum were named Kids Class Co-Students of the Month. Congratulations to each of you for your effort, great attitude, and dedication.
The Passage of Knowledge Martial Arts Center teaches a variety of Martial Arts. The Center is open to all ages and focuses on allowing students to learn about themselves and having fun.
